Meet our Staff and Committee

Chuck Bentjen, Director

Chuck is a lawyer by training and an advocate by vocation.  He's a native Nebraskan who hails from the northeastern part of the state.  A 1980 honors graduate from Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, with a BA in Political Science and minors in German and Social Sciences, Chuck went on to study law at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1986.  For the next 13 plus years, Chuck practiced law focusing on Elder law and Juvenile law. 

Chuck has served as the Director of Justice Ministries for the Nebraska Synod since January of 2000.  He is currently attending seminary classes at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA, and works part-time as the Supervising Attorney for the South Central Nebraska Area Agency on Aging in Kearney, Nebraska.  Chuck also serves as the Coordinator for the ELCA World Hunger Program, reviews church constitutions and as the staff liaison for Lutheran Men in Mission for the Nebraska Synod.   

In his spare time, Chuck is an avid reader, motorcyclist, computer junkie, and musician.  Chuck is married to Donna Bentjen.  Donna has one daughter, Dawn Nicoll.  They have one grandson, Scott Nicoll, and a second grandchild on the way.  They are members of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.
